BOARD: Michelle Mitchell

Michelle Mitchell, an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, is the Department Head for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Education Department, a role she has held for five years. With 30 years of experience as an Indigenous Educator, Michelle is deeply passionate about Tribal education and fostering tribal student identity by highlighting the strength and beauty of Native people. Previously, she served as Director of American Indian Student Achievement at the Montana Office of Public Instruction and supported over 200 Indigenous students annually as an Achievement Coach. Michelle values relationship-building as the key to success. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, beading, and watching crime shows.
